Meconopsis conservation day
on Saturday, May 16th 2026
We are holding another Meconopsis Day at Saughton Botanic Gardens, EH11 3HP. Saturday May 16th, 11 am to 3 pm. The theme will be 'The Conservation of Meconopsis in Cultivation'. There will be talks, videos and demonstrations.
Programme 11.00. Arrival: tea and coffee. 11.15. "Cultivation for Conservation". Talk by Alan Oatway. 12.15. Demonstration and illustrations on how to hand-pollenate plants, by Matt Heasman, followed by a short video. 13.00 to 14.00. Break for packed lunch, or visit to cafe, and a walk round the garden. 14.00. Talk and demonstration. More details to follow. Followed by questions and answers. The meeting will close at 15.00.

Garden visits

Perth area
Two visits to gardens in and close to Perth. There should be plenty of Meconopsis in flower, as well as masses of other plants, in wonderful garden settings.
Programme Branklyn Garden Parkhead Gardens, Perth One garden will be visited in the morning, the other in the afternoon. More information will be provided later.
